DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATION

Fire proof door frames are passive protection systems that, although they do no fight fire, with their presence successfully thwart its diffusion.

They do not have an unlimited fire resistance, but are able to postpone heat, flame and gas transmission generated by fire to a protected area or adjacent rooms.

They must have fire resistance properties that are listed in various classes: fire resistance is defined as the capacity of a component or a structure to maintain for a certain range of time, measured in minutes, its characteristics when attacked by fire.

Fire resistance of a door frame is indicated by a symbol formed by letters and numbers.

R represents the mechanical resistance;
E represents the resistance to the flame, vapours and hot gases and the absence of their development on the
opposite side of the flame;
I represent the heat insulation.

Under these conditions a fireproof unit can be classified as follows:

REI when it keeps, for a determined time, its stability, fire tightness and heat insulation;
RE when it keeps, for a determined time, its stability and fire tightness;
R when it keeps, for a determined time, its stability.

Porte REI ed accessori - - - Zoom In connection to the properties shown, units are classified with a number indicating the minutes: 15 -30-60-90-120-180 minutes.

The following structures are usually indicated with the term "fire proof":

Steel fire proof doors with one or two leaves;
Rolled fire proof doors;
Steel fire proof doors with glass porthole with one or two leaves;
Fire proof doors with upward and downward movement;
Glass fire proof structures;
Locking tools like handles, anti panic shackles, locks,
electromagnets etc.
